Dear Kids!
Well, 2010 is about to come to an end. What a great year we had and I'm looking forward to lots of fun times in 2011. Daddy is putting together our annual newsletter to send to friends and family. It is packed with all of our great adventures. We started the year with a fun ski trip in February. Meredith was fearless on the WI mountain. Katelyn and I enjoyed some hot chocolate time while Meredith and Daddy went down the slopes over and over again. Drew stayed back with Grammie and Grandpa for some fun times.
We were fortunate this past year to spend lots of time with Nana while she lived with Mimi and Papa. Most of our times were bonding over dinners out. Nana sure loved Mimi's cooking and going out to eat. Unfortunately we lost Nana in June after a short bout with cancer. This was a tough time for everyone and I know you all miss her.
Katelyn finished 1st grade with a bang. Straight A's all year and of course perfect behavior. Your reading Katelyn has taken off and I'm so impressed with your math skills. You must get that from your Daddy and Papa! Our summer was so fun with a cruise to the Bahamas which included a trip to The Atlantis Resort. FUN! Everyone loved the cruise and all three of you were so sad to leave the wait staff at dinner. They treated you all like royalty and you left a huge impression on them as well. I know you'll expect to see them on every cruise ship. Katelyn started 2nd grade and is doing wonderfully....hasn't missed a beat! Meredith is doing great in Pre-K and getting ready for "big kid's school" in 2011. Can't believe it! Drew is learning tons and starting to write his name well. Next year will be a huge year for learning and I can't wait to see what you do, Drew!
Our Fall break was highlighted by a trip to Disney World. Everyone had a great time. We visited the Magic Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon and Disney Studios. We were lucky to be joined at the same resort by The Lummus Family and spend some time with them as well. We also caught up with Lara and Lindsay while in Orlando. Of course, Meredith bonded quickly with Lindsay and was sad to see her go. Maybe she'll choose Grad School in GA and she can be our live in nanny :).
Birthday parties were fun this year. Katelyn enjoyed a bowling party with friends and of course had an amazing "Lori" cake. Drew's birthday was celebrated with family and also at Disney. He loved wearing his "Happy Birthday" pin and couldn't believe it when everyone kept saying "Happy Birthday, Drew!". Of course you, Meredith, kept telling everyone "It's NOT his birthday, he already had it!". You were not about to let him have yet another day that was all his! We ended the year of birthdays at Bounce-U with Meredith's 5th birthday! We had about 20 kids attend and it was a great time. I so enjoy these special times and at the same moment just can't believe each of you is growing so fast. I keep hoping it slows down just a little.....
2011 is going to be an amazing year! We already have a ski vacation planned for Winter Break in February to Whistler. Everyone is excited about going to a new country! Another vacation is in the planning stage for June in Hawaii. I know you will love visiting the beautiful beaches of one of the prettiest states. I also won't be too shocked if we end up back at Disney. After all, we did buy plenty of days on our multi-day passes :)
Thanks for blessing me with such an amazing life. I don't tell you nearly enough that I'm so proud to be your Mother and consider each of you my greatest accomplishment. I will do my best to give you unconditional love, patience, time, understanding and extra kisses in 2011. You deserve the best I can give and that's my promise to you...I will do my best!
I love each of you THE MOST!

Happy 5th Birthday Meredith!
Dear Meredith,
I can't believe you are 5 already. The time really has flown right by in front of my eyes. You are in your last year of preschool and before I know it will be getting on the bus with Katelyn every school morning. Although you have reached 5, you still get into messes all the time. You are the most curious child....very similar to the character Curious George. I'm convinced you could star in your own TV show or book series. Perhaps I should write it :). One thing is for sure, you keep me on my toes. When you're not cutting your hair, ingesting cold medicine, dumping shampoo to make bubbles, sneaking candy, stealing stuff from your sister's room and catnapping (holding Matty hostage) you are the sweetest and most endearing child ever. Your eyes melt me and that curly hair always puts a smile on my face. You have so much charm, even when you're getting into trouble. I know you will get far in life. You are so adored. I'm proud that you are doing well in school and am more hopeful by the day that I won't be a normal fixture at the principal's office when you get to elementary school. Lately you've been more attached to me than ever. You've even told me you're never going to leave me and when I go to Heaven you'll be going with me. I plan to be around for a long, long time to watch what you accomplish in life. I know it will be grand! Meredith Devyn just doesn't do things on a small scale!
Know that I will always love you and want the very best for you. At times I realize it's tough being the middle child so close in age to your youngest sibling. I realize that this may have cost you some much desired Mommy and Me time. I will continue to find special moments for just the two of us. I cherish these times together especially those nights when you're just not tired. You stay up late and watch the "dancing and singing" shows with me. You are a special person and I love you so much.
Happy 5th Birthday my curly head!
Love,
Mommy

Disney Trip - Fall 2010
Dear Kids,
We just returned from a fun week at Disney. Wow....that was one tiring trip. We started off the week with the Magic Kingdom. Meredith was very excited to go on the roller coasters. Luckily, she was tall enough. Drew barely made the height requirement for Splash Mountain. We loved the fact there were no lines and we went right to the front. Drew was too scared to go on Splash Mountain and started screaming so much Daddy had to take him off the log. Meredith, Katelyn and I went on that one and Thunder Mountain. It was a lot of fun. Drew had a great time on the slower rides and really enjoyed the Buzz Lightyear ride. The next day we headed to Typhoon Lagoon Waterpark. Another day of great weather and small lines. We had fun going on the water slides and even Drew was brave enough to go down a couple by himself. We ended our trip with a day at Animal Kingdom followed by Hollywood Studies. Katelyn rode the big roller coaster at AK two times and loved it. Meredith was just a 1/2 inch too short and was not happy they wouldn't let her on. I guess she'll be good to go next time! After a fun 1/2 day at AK we headed to Hollywood Studies. This is where we finally found the crowds. The Toy Story ride was too long of a wait so we had to skip that one. After a few rides, Daddy went back to the hotel with the little kids while Katelyn and Mommy stayed behind. Mommy had fun on the Rock and Roller coaster with Lori and Jordan as their family was also at the park that day while Katelyn who was just an inch too short for the coaster hung out with Regan and her Daddy. It was fun to spend time with our good friends who visited Disney at the same time and stayed at the same resort. We ended a very busy day with Fantasmic which was an amazing show that included water, fireworks, lasers and Disney characters. Well worth all the waiting we did to see it!
We had such a fun trip that I'm wanting to go back next fall break. It's fun to see how excited each of you gets for different reasons. Drew loved seeing Handy Manny. Katelyn loved going on the fast rides....as did Meredith. There was a little something for everyone on this trip.
I look forward to many, many more fun times with each of you!
